Endocrinology
Endocrinology is the medical branch that deals Diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the endocrine system. Endocrinology studies the functions and pathology of the endocrine glands - thyroid gland, pituitary gland, adrenal gland, gonads, and disorders affecting calcium metabolism - osteoporosis, osteomalacia.
Endocrine disorders are complex and their diagnostic need specific lab tests (Hormonal Determinations & Fertility) and multiple radiological investigations, for an early-stage and accurately diagnostic.
Some endocrine disorders can be diagnosed in a subclinic stage and early diagnostic can stop the evolution before the disease become manifest and complications occur. Subclinical thyroid disease is a common disease and its frequency grows with the age; if it remains undetected it has bad influence upon cardio-vasculart systemand mental functions.
Endocrinology has given great contributions in the understanding of the cardio-vascular functions. Cardiac tissues are endocrine gland and the stimuls which affects the cardio-vascular system acts throungh hormonal receptors. Many cardio-vascular diseases have endocrine causes : secondary arterial hypertension (primary aldosteronism or feocromocitom); metabolic syndrome, obesity, dislipidemy.
